Winos in Waldo

Hey, hey, hey! Hannah here, newest member of the Cellar Dwellers. Since Lindsay got you all up-to-date on the latest and greatest, I thought I'd jump in and write a quick synopsis of our most recent October "tasting".

That's right, at a tasting it is most appropriate to have a variety of wines to taste from. In our case, we had 10 bottles... Between busy schedules, baby showers and birthday celebrations - the Cellar Dwellers have been wine drinking at a variety of Kansas City social establishments and neglecting their own bottles. We promise, to you our loyal readers, we're back on the wagon. (But don't buy the one on the far right, "Vino" - it was gross, too fruity - we gave it to my 20 year-old neighbors because let's face it, at 20 you're cheap and alcohol is alcohol).

This was our favorite, Anko Malbec '12 - Los Cardones, Argentina
A really wild red, the chalky red currant is rich and generous in power and personality;
long finish; mineral note in the aftertaste (Check out T in the background - atta' girl!)

We had an abundance of tasty Fall dishes to go with our fabulous wines, as we all love to cook. Taylor made a super yummy Pear Butternut Spread served with goat cheese and french bread. We all loved it so much it was decided it could go on just about anything, especially pancakes; Kerstin whipped up a fabulous Butternut and Caramelized Onion Galette - dough and all - that was dang impressive. Watch out Martha!; and Lindsay served up a classic pimiento spread with none other than good ole' white bread (although she claims there was some wheat in there) and celery sticks. For our Vine viewers and fans, please follow Kerstin for an intimate portrayal of our love for white bread and hashtags.

I, on the other hand, could not partake in all the above yumminess as I have started a 90 day journey of clean eating - no dairy, no gluten or grains, no refined sugar and no processed foods . To introduce my friends to this new lifestyle, I made Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Apples and Paleo Shrimp-Stuffed Mushrooms (pictured above) - delish! If I do say so myself.

Table Talk:

  • Boys, duh. Coco and Kerstin (newly roommates) and Taylor and Chad (newly in love). We hear wedding bells!
  • #welovewine #forrealz #alldayeverydaytillthedayIdie #cellardwellerskc (follow us on Instagram!)
  • Recent and future travels: Florida, Texas, California, Chicago and one of those gorgeous islands that Lindsay is always getting to go to #notfair
  • Hannah's new nutrition and fitness program - http://90tonewyear.com/ - #90toNY

All in all, it was a fabulous evening! Although we greatly missed new Mama Lexie and Kate, who was celebrating her 2 year wedding anniversary (congrats!). Everyone left around 9:30pm, making it probably the earliest wine club ending in Cellar Dweller history, but hey, we're becoming responsible adults here. Well, at least until next month...

Success!
(Don't forget the white bread)

Winos Back on the Blog

To say it's been a while, might be an understatement, but we're jumping back on the blog wagon so you better be ready. Even though we've been absent from our blog, this does not mean we took a hiatus from drinking wine together-heck no! We've been busy-very busy over the past year, so we wanted to take a few minutes to catch you up on what's been going on:

Recent Highlights of the CD
  • Drinking Wine (duh-that's what we do)
  • Getting Cultured at Shakespeare in the Park on Hannah's 30th Birthday!
  • Hanging out at Atonne's and celebrating summer time and Taylor's birthday!
  • Drinking Beer and eating delish blue cheese at Green Dirt Farms!
  • Throwing a special baby shower for Lexie and her little Olive!
  • And much more that we can't remember right now

I'm sure you have a lot of questions about what's been going since we last spoke, like did Taylor sell her house? Boy or Girl for Kate? What projects is Lex working on now at her house, and who is Olive? Did Lindsay walk down the aisle yet? Who the heck is Hannah? And most importantly....What has happened with Kerstin's napkin? Well, get ready-you're about to find out all of these answers and more when we play wrap up the past year in 3 bullets!

Taylor
  • Sold her cute town home and moved into a super, darling home
  • Teaching all of her nephews how to be a great boyfriend in the future (she's the BEST aunt!)
  • And more recently, making coconut creme pie for a special someone (a BOY!)
Lexie
  • Sold their sweet house and moved to a beautiful home about a year ago. Lots of new projects for Miss Lexie-her fav!
  • Since they had so many new rooms to fill, they decided to have a Baby!
  • Baby Olive was born in October-and is as sweet as can be! She's going to make a great CD someday!
Kate
  • Last we spoke, Kate had a bun in the oven and now that little bun is over a year old!
  • Elliott was born last October, and is turning into the cutest little man-he always has a smile on his face (at least when I see him!), and is so fun to spend time with-just like his Mama!
  • Kate  has done some fun traveling lately-she's a totally hip and cool mom, hanging out at ACL!
Kerstin
  • Well, there no longer a need for a napkin-that's for sure!
  • Kerstin and Coco sitting in a tree-and are new roomies, along with their super cute pets-a modern day Brady Bunch
  • Kerstin has been spending lots of time with her sis and bro-in-law, since they bought a house just down the street from K!
Hannah
  • Hannah is our newest CD member -and what a great addition!
  • She's run not 1, not 2, but 3 1/2 marathons this year alone-Crazy!
  • Hannah recently took a big leap and accepted a new position at a new company and couldn't be happier!

Lindsay
  • Lindsay is indeed a married woman-and has been for almost a year!
  • Lindsay has added a few more boys into her life besides Eric in 2012.  Besides Elliott, her sister, Ashley, had another baby boy last September. Bennett just turned 1!
  • L&E have lived in three different places in as little as three months-but are finally getting settled in their new house!

More to come!

Cheers!
